Summer momentum

Lake Shore Lightning Tournament Champions

Lake Shore Lightning won the Swing For The Ring 14U tournament in Laurel, Maryland, an exciting and motivating finish as Hailey and the team head into USSSA Nationals in Ocean City, Maryland next week. The following week, Hailey travels to Space Coast and Cocoa Beach, Florida for the USSSA All-American Games.

The correction: softball is a September 1 sport for NCAA Division I coach-initiated recruiting contact. For Hailey, D1 coaches can begin substantive replies, calls, texts, DMs, offers, recruiting conversations, and coach-involved visits on September 1, 2028.

Hailey can email, call, DM, and complete questionnaires at any division at any time. The restrictions bind college coaches, not recruits. D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO conversations can begin much earlier, which makes those lanes live now instead of backup plans.

Softball's D1 date is September 1

Most recruiting advice online says June 15 after sophomore year. Softball is different. For the Class of 2030, the D1 contact gate is September 1, 2028, so the next two years are about being ready before coaches can talk back.

Salisbury is not a fallback

Salisbury University is Division III, close to Pasadena, and one of the country's serious D3 softball programs. Head Coach Lacey Lord's pitching background makes it especially relevant if Hailey keeps developing in the circle.

Anne Arundel Community College belongs on the board because Rachel works there and free tuition changes the math. JUCO is not a defeat; it can be a low-cost development and transfer pathway with no NCAA contact restrictions.
